Prepare your reference list

There are several ways through which you can prepare your reference list. The most important ways could be:

  1. Use MS Word references’ tool
  2. Use Mendeley references’ tool

  1. Use MS Word references’ tool

Prepare your reference list following the steps:

  1. Click References
  2. In the Citations & Bibliography group, click Manage Sources. A Source Manager window will be opened.
  3. In the Source Manager window, click New.
  4. Choose the Type of Source.
  5. Fill in the information of your reference and click ok.
  6. In the Citations & Bibliography group, choose the referencing style from the drop list style.
  7. Click where you want to insert your reference list.
  8. Click the Bibliography drop list and choose Bibliography.

 

  1. Use Mendeley references’ tool

Having your references imported to Mendeley, You can site them in a Word file and create a reference list following the below steps:

  1. In the Tools drop list in Mendeley choose Install MS Word Plugin.
  2. In your MS Word file Click References
  3. Click where you want to cite. In the Mendeley Cite-O-Matic click Insert Citation.
  4. In the opened window search by author, title or year in your Library or click Go To Mendeley and choose from your library.
  5. Choose the referencing style from the drop list style.
  6. Click where you want to insert your reference list.
  7. Click Insert Bibliography.

 

  1. Use a citation generator

Several websites can help you prepare your reference list for free. Just insert your title, keywords, DOI, or URL in the search engine and get your references. Your references will be prepared based on your chosen referencing style. Some of these generators are:

  1. Citation machine.
  2. NC State University citation builder. 
  3. Cite fast. 
  4. UNC University libraries. 
  5. Easy bib.
  6. Cite this for me.

 

  1. Prepare your reference list manually.

Preparing your reference list manually could be the most time consuming and, maybe, the less accurate method (because of the potential typos). However, you can prepare it using the following guides:

  3. Chicago
  4. Harvard
